Headspace

Headspace provides mental health services to 12-25 year olds.

The service is designed to make it as easy as possible for a young person and their family to get the help they need for problems affecting their wellbeing. This covers four core areas: mental health, physical health, work and study support and alcohol and other drug services. 

Beyond Blue

Beyond Blue is the national initiative to raise awareness of anxiety and depression, providing resources for recovery, management and resilience.

*Gabor Maté is a physician who specialises in the study and treatment of addiction and is also widely recognised for his perspective on attention deficit disorder and his firmly held belief in the connection between mind and body health.

*Brené Brown is a researcher. She has spent the past thirteen years studying vulnerability, courage, worthiness, authenticity, and shame.

*Amy Cuddy’s research on body language reveals that we can change other people’s perceptions — and even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions. See her Ted Talk.

*Susan Cain is a former corporate lawyer and negotiations consultant and a self-described introvert. She is leading The Quiet Revolution which empowers introverts for the benefit of everyone. Watch her Ted Talk "The Power of Introverts".

*Tara Brach is a psychologist, author and teacher of meditation, emotional healing and spiritual awakening. On her website Tara offers free guided meditations and talks. She has a wise and caring approach to freeing ourselves from suffering. A few of the talks that I would recommend are 'Taking ‘The Exquisite Risk:’ An Undefended Heart', 'Reconnecting with Our Lives – Healing from Dissociation', 'The Revolution of Tenderness – Part I & 2, and Spiritual Reparenting but there are many more!

*Esther Perel is a psychotherapist, relationship expert and author. She is recognised as one of the most insightful and provocative voices on personal and professional relationships and the complex science behind human interaction. She has a couple of great Ted Talks, books and an interesting podcast series. The Podcast series 'Where Should We Begin' takes you into the antechamber of intimate moments.
